What is daily life like on a gated Murcia golf resort?

Think of a small private village. The gate is staffed, the roads are quiet enough to cycle, and most of what you need day to day is a short walk away.

Omala Residences shows the model well. You have a 4-star hotel, an on-site spa, restaurants and bars, padel and tennis courts, and a golf academy with a driving range. The homes are 3 and 4-bedroom villas with private pools.

The day tends to follow the light. Golf or a walk first thing, a long lunch, the pool in the afternoon, then dinner at the clubhouse or a short drive into Murcia city for tapas.

On a clear winter morning the first tee times go out under blue skies at around 15°C, and by lunch you can sit outside in shirt sleeves.

For buyers who also want Spanish street life, it is on hand. Murcia city, Cartagena and the local towns are close enough for an evening out, so you get the calm of the resort and the buzz of the plaza when you want it.

What's the news at Corvera Hills?

The headline for Corvera Hills is simple: the golf course is due to reopen in the fourth quarter of 2026. For anyone buying there now, that means you are getting in as the resort's centrepiece comes back into play.

Corvera sits close to Región de Murcia International Airport, which handled 949,007 passengers in 2025. Being able to land, collect the car and be on your terrace shortly afterwards is one of the reasons owners choose it.

What makes the Jack Nicklaus course at Alhama special?

Alhama Signature is a genuine Jack Nicklaus Signature design. "Signature" means Nicklaus personally directed the routing, rather than simply licensing his name. Expect wide fairways, quick greens and plenty of water in play.

In June 2025 the owner announced a €15m plan to bring the course back into play and build a five-star hotel at Condado de Alhama. The work is phased across 2026 and 2027, and it is the kind of investment that lifts a whole resort. For buyers at Alhama Nature, it means a Nicklaus course and a luxury hotel at the heart of the community.

Golfers are the obvious fit, but plenty of owners never pick up a club.

• Retirees and semi-retirees like the security, the single-level villa options, and having hospitals and the airport within easy reach.
• Second-home owners can lock up and leave. Management companies look after gardens and pools while you are away.
• Golfers get a course on the doorstep, plus academy and range facilities at Omala.
• Families love it in summer and school holidays: pools, padel and the Mar Menor beaches nearby.

Where are the resorts, and how far is everything?

Omala and Corvera Hills sit between Murcia city and the Mar Menor, the warm, shallow saltwater lagoon with calm beaches that are ideal for swimming. Condado de Alhama lies further inland to the south-west, near Alhama de Murcia and the Sierra Espuña.

That position gives you the quiet of a resort without being cut off from the city, the coast or the airport.

What should I know about running costs and practicalities?

It is all straightforward, and we give you an itemised cost breakdown for any home before you reserve.

• Community fees (comunidad): a regular charge for shared upkeep, such as gardens, pools, security and lighting. As a broad guide, around €600 to €1,800 a year depending on the development, shown line by line in your cost breakdown.
• IBI: the annual council property tax, separate from the community fee.
• A car: resorts are walkable inside the gates, and a car makes the most of the beaches, the city and the golf around the region.
• Summer heat: July and August regularly pass 35°C, which is why owners play golf early and spend afternoons by the pool or at the beach. October to May is golf high season, with cooler, sunny days.

Usually yes. Holiday lets in Murcia need a regional tourist registration, and each community has its own rules, which your lawyer confirms for the specific home before you reserve.

Do I have to play golf to buy on a golf resort?

No. Many owners buy for the security, the pools, the community and the short hop to the airport, and enjoy the green views without ever booking a tee time.

When does the Corvera Hills golf course reopen?
