Concerts, Theatre and Jazz Near the Murcia Golf Resorts: Autumn and Winter 2026

Murcia's cultural season runs from September to June. The Orquesta Sinfónica de la Región de Murcia (OSRM) plays its 30th season at the Auditorio Víctor Villegas, and the Teatro Romea and Teatro Circo Murcia stage theatre, music and dance. The autumn peaks are the Cartagena Jazz Festival (28 October to 15 November 2026) and the Titeremurcia puppetry festival in November.
One of the pleasant surprises for owners is how much culture sits within easy reach of the resorts, often at prices well below London or Dublin. Golf and beaches are what bring most people here, but it is the evenings at the theatre or a jazz concert that make a place feel like home. Here is what is on this season, and how to make the most of it.
Where are Murcia's main cultural venues?
| Venue | What it does best |
|---|---|
| Auditorio y Centro de Congresos Víctor Villegas, Murcia | OSRM symphony season, dance, big-name concerts |
| Teatro Romea, Murcia (1862, 1,179 seats) | Drama, musicals, family shows |
| Teatro Circo Murcia (TCM) | Contemporary theatre, music, puppetry |
| Auditorio El Batel, Cartagena | Cartagena Jazz Festival, concerts |
| Plaza de Toros de Murcia | Large pop concerts |
What classical music is on this season?
The OSRM opened its 30th season on 25 September 2026 with the cellist Johannes Moser under its music director, Manuel Hernández-Silva. The season has 14 concerts and record subscriber numbers.
The next date for most people is 8 October, when OSRM II brings together the mezzo-soprano Maite Beaumont and the conductor Roberto Forés. The programme is Debussy's Petite suite, Ravel's Shéhérazade and Elgar's Enigma Variations, which makes it a lovely, approachable first concert if you are new to the orchestra. OSRM III follows on 24 October.
Alongside the orchestra, the Jóvenes Solistas series runs from 15 October to 14 November, with 10 concerts by young musicians in venues across the municipality. These are relaxed evenings and a good way to discover the smaller halls.
The Auditorio's wider programme is just as varied. The Jesús Carmona dance company brings "Tentativo" on 11 October, the Las Minas Flamenco Tour arrives on 31 October, and Café Quijano plays from 14 November. In December, Así Canta Jerez and the Film Symphony Orchestra are both on the calendar, which makes the Auditorio a natural stop on a festive weekend.
What is on at the Teatro Romea and Teatro Circo?
The Teatro Romea, Murcia's grand 19th-century theatre, opens its autumn with "Fedra en los infiernos" on 10 October, a production from the Festival de Teatro Clásico de Mérida. A Teatro de la Zarzuela co-production follows on 15 October. Further ahead, the musical "Sonrisas y lágrimas", the Spanish staging of The Sound of Music, plays on 5 and 6 February 2027, and it is worth booking early.
The Teatro Circo Murcia is the more contemporary of the two. The Galician folk group Luar Na Lubre mark their 40th anniversary there on 9 October, and the singer-songwriter Santiago Ausérón plays on 8 November.
Most plays are performed in Spanish, so music, dance and family shows are the easiest way in while your Spanish is still developing. A concert is often the best introduction to a venue.
Comedy. Murcia Sonríe brings comedians such as Paz Padilla and Goyo Jiménez to venues across the region in October and November.
What are the big festivals?
Cartagena Jazz Festival (45th edition), 28 October to 15 November 2026. The line-up includes Ibrahim Maalouf, Andrea Motis, Kenny Barron (7 November, from €25), Kurt Elling & The Yellowjackets, Samara Joy and Nacho Vegas (12 November, €30). There are also free Saturday street concerts and Sunday 12:30 matinees on El Batel's terrace on 1, 8 and 15 November.
Titeremurcia (25th edition), November 2026. The festival's own channels give 6 to 16 November. Puppet, object and shadow theatre plays at the Teatro Romea, Teatro Circo and neighbourhood auditoriums, with family tickets from about €5 to €10.
Highlights include "Bunji, la pequeña koala" by Festuc at the Romea on 8 November at 12:00, "Lovo" by Lafauna at the Teatro Circo on 11 November, and "Saeta" by Javier Aranda, also at the Teatro Circo, on 13 November. Puppetry crosses the language barrier better than almost anything, which makes it ideal when grandchildren come to stay.
Flamenco and film. Fundación Mediterráneo's Flamencos del Mediterráneo series runs to seven shows between November 2026 and May 2027. Caravaca de la Cruz hosts its third Festival Flamenco from 30 October to 6 November, and Cartagena's International Film Festival runs from 21 to 28 November.
From the resorts, Murcia's venues suit Corvera Hills and Alhama Nature owners especially, while Cartagena's El Batel is the easier evening out from the Mar Menor side. We arrange and accompany viewing trips across the resorts, and we're happy to fit a concert into the day so you can see how the region feels after dark.
